CHITRAL: Chitrali businesswoman Nighat Akbar Shah sets best example to distribute rations among people affected by corona lockdown.
Ms. Nighat Shah, who is settled in the USA, started distributing relief rations among people of Garam Chashma affected by the lockdown in wake of the coronavirus outbreak, says a press release.
The rations arranged by the businesswoman containing rice, flour, sugar, daal and anti-bacterial soaps reached 100 deserving families in Izh, Chirwel, Gajal, Doaba, Xhitor, Beshqer, Narkorat, Ovirk, Behmi and Niwest.
The distribution of the relief packages will continue and will soon be extended to other villages as well.
Great care was taken to ensure both social distancing and confidentiality.
Rather than inviting the recipients to show up at a central location, the packages were dropped at their doorsteps.
No photos were taken of the people who received the packages and neither they were asked to provide any personal information.
The lockdown in Chitral has harshly affected people living remote and far-off areas such as Garam Chashma, Yarkhun, Torkhow, Madaklasht, Arandu and Laspur valleys.
Though so far there is no confirmed case, four suspected patients admitted to hospitals with symptoms of COVID-19 tested negative.
With the outbreak of the pandemic, a large number of Chitralis living in different parts of Pakistan have started returning home and they are being kept in quarantine for 14 days.
Despite government Great care is needed on part of the public as well as the government to keep Chitral safe from the disease because hospitals and other healthcare centres in Chitral are very poorly equipped to deal with any outbreak of the virus.
